Jackie Griggs, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)

Jackie is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with a Masters degree in nursing who has delivered over 800 babies. She has worked in women's health since receiving her nursing degree in 1979, from San Jacinto College. She worked as a nurse for 10 years and then went into midwifery. She has worked in several different settings- home, birth center, clinics, and hospital care. Jackie attended the University of Texas in Galveston (UTMB) to receive her Masters degree as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2001. She has continued to help women at home and birth center since that time.

Jackie has served as the President of the Association of Texas Midwives, the statewide organization that promotes midwifery in Texas. She is the current President of the Texas Coalition of Birth Centers. She is the mother of five sons- 2 born at the hospital and 3 born at home with the assistance of midwives. They are ages 17-35. She is also a Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a strong proponent of breastfeeding.

Camellia May, Certified Professional Midwife (CPM)

Camellia has worked as a midwife since 1993. She received a degree in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas in 1988. She is the mother of five children, four born at home with the assistance of midwives. Camellia is well known among Texas midwives as a first rate researcher. She is known to many clients as an excellent support to their families during the birthing process.

Mary Cunningham, Office Manager

Mary Cunningham is the proud mother of two almost grown-up daughters. Her husband of 28 years completes her family. After graduation from the University of Houston – Clear Lake with a degree in Elementary Education, Mary taught 2nd grade for eight years. Before her children were born, Mary was in sales and customer service for 11 years at Hobby Airport. Working as the office manager at Bay Area Birth Center, Mary strives to keep things in order and enjoys helping out in any way that she can.
